Val Grande National Park

Parco Nazionale della Val Grande

The Val Grande National Park is the largest wilderness area in Europe. It extends from Lake Maggiore to the Ossola Valley in a vast area of woodland and grassy slopes accessible from the hills of the hinterland of Verbania, the valley floor of the Ossola, and the Vigezzo Valley.

Val Grande is crisscrossed with hiking trails, some of them easy, practicable by anyone, and others suitable only for expert climbers. The main access points to the park are Malesco, Rovegro, San Bernardino Verbano, Intragna and Premosello Chiovenda.
